Verification for Saturday: I expected scattered snow showers, with high temperatures in the mid 20s northwest of NYC and in the upper 20s for NYC and closer to the coast. The highs peaked around midnight and dropped throughout the day, so highs were slightly warmer than I expected, in the upper 20s to lower 30s across the region.
Verification for Saturday Night: I expected mostly cloudy skies, with low temperatures in the low to mid 10s north and west of NYC, and in the upper 10s to lower 20s for NYC and closer to the coast. While places near the coast did get below 20 degrees, lows there were in the upper 10s, which was in my range. Areas north and west of NYC verified.
Today: Cloudy. Snow showers expected in the afternoon. Cold and windy. High temperatures will be in the low 20s north and west of NYC, and in the mid 20s for NYC and closer to the coast. Wind chill below 0 degrees is possible in the morning. Wind gusts up to 50 mph are possible. Snow accumulation of 1-2 inches is possible in Long Island.
Tonight: Mostly Cloudy. Cold and windy. Low temperatures will be in the mid to upper 10s north and west of NYC, and in the low 20s for NYC and closer to the coast.

Short Range Outlook:
The intense storm that is barely moving near Maine is now weakening, though its snow bands are heading south towards the area, meaning we will get snow showers late this morning into the afternoon. Once again, Long Island has the better chance of snow with accumulations up to 1-2 inches, with the rest of the area seeing lighter snow showers. These snow showers then exit the area tonight with temperatures becoming cold again but not as cold as last night was.
We will then see temperatures warming up a little bit, with highs staying in the upper 20s to the 30s through next week. Wednesday is expected to be the warmest day, with high temperatures in the mid 30s for the immediate NYC area.
Then things get much more interesting. There is plenty of arctic air, meaning that any storm that does form will likely not be able to move inland. There is a ridge in the west coast which is also supportive of storms riding up the East Coast. Then the weather models also show a storm threat for the area, with the past two runs of the GFS model showing a snowstorm from Richmond, VA to Boston. While there is still a lot of uncertainty considering how far out this is, we have to watch for a storm to possibly affect the area on Friday and Saturday. Stay tuned for updates on this potential storm as details become clearer.
