August 6: Cooler Saturday, But Warmth To Return

With temperatures today reaching the lower 90s for parts of the immediate NYC area, combined with high temperatures in the 90s over the last 2 days, today marks yet another heat wave for NYC. While tomorrow will be cooler, as with most of this summer, warmth will return on Sunday, with another 2-3 days of temperatures near or over 90 degrees expected for parts of the area.

Weekend Outlook:

Tomorrow will be a very nice day for the area. Mostly sunny skies are expected, with high temperatures rising into the lower to mid 80s for the interior and Long Island/S CT, with NYC in the mid 80s. Dry conditions are expected tomorrow as well.

Sunday will also be mainly sunny, but temperatures will start to warm up as a warm air mass approaches the area. High temperatures will warm up into the mid to upper 80s inland, and the upper 80s to lower 90s for the immediate NYC area.

Next Week Thoughts:

The models continue to remain uncertain for next week, varying from rain and 70s to a heat wave with temperatures well into the 90s. They do, however, agree on Monday being a very warm and humid day, with high temperatures in the upper 80s to lower 90s for the immediate NYC area, with a chance of thunderstorms.

Afterwards, Tuesday will be another very warm day, with high temperatures similar to those of Monday, however a warm air mass will approach the area. The northern boundary of the hot temperatures is likely to be steady for most of the week, which should be close to the area, with the models showing an active corridor of showers and thunderstorms possible near that boundary. At this time, the models suggest that this boundary should be over the area, however should it shift further north, persistently hot conditions could return, with high temperatures well into the 90s.
