Aug 9, 2011 Storm Updates
3:25 PM: The rain has reached the area earlier than expected, as a line of heavy rain and thunderstorms is currently in central New Jersey and moving east, towards NYC. The warm front is south of the area, and will stay south of the area for the entire duration of this storm, meaning that these storms will not be severe, and the biggest risk will be heavy rainfall and gusty winds, but heavy rain is still expected from these storms as they continue to move east, with the heavy rain affecting NE NJ/NYC within the next 20-30 minutes. The storms will likely weaken as they enter Long Island/southern Connecticut in about an hour, but light to moderate rain is still expected to fall there. Stay tuned for more storm updates throughout the next several hours.
