Feb 5, 2011 Brief Update

No full update will be posted tonight, though the Long Range Forecasts page has been updated with the February outlook, including the warmer temperatures expected for the middle of February, with another long range update over the next week or so discussing the potential return to winter-like conditions afterwards.

Tuesday Update: The models have been trending towards a coastal storm that might stay close enough to the coast to affect the area with moderate precipitation. The set up is not favorable for a major snowstorm, despite 850 mb temperatures below zero degrees, surface and 925 mb temperatures are still above freezing, which may lead to rain in the central and eastern parts of the area, but with light wet snow potential further inland.

Stay tuned for more information on this storm and the Thursday potential tomorrow.
