Oct 3: Chilly And Wet Week Ahead

Note: I apologize again for not being able to post the update and the storm review yesterday. A computer error prevented me from being able to post these things, and I am currently working on the storm review again, which will be posted over the next 2-3 days.

Today's Outlook:

Today (Sunday) will feature increasing clouds with a NE wind. High temperatures will be in the upper 50s inland and in the lower 60s in the immediate NYC area, Long Island and southern Connecticut.

Tonight will be cloudy, with light rain expected with a storm that will bring cloudy, chilly and wet conditions for most of this coming week.

Monday - Thursday: Cloudy, Chilly, And Wet

A low pressure currently offshore will move towards the area tonight, and is expected to stall offshore on Monday, which will bring cloudy and wet conditions for most of the week, and even some snow is possible in West Virginia out of this storm. On Monday, rain will move inland from the southeast. The heaviest rain will fall to the southwest of the area, but moderate rain is still expected to fall with a NE wind. Due to this, very chilly conditions are expected on Monday, with highs in the 40s inland and in Pennsylvania, lower 50s for the immediate NYC area, and mid to upper 50s for Long Island/S CT.

On Monday Night, the storm will still be stationary offshore, but with lighter rain. This storm, in some ways similar to the late February blizzard, will be close to the area, drawing in a milder air mass into SE New England, while a cold air mass will be present to the west of the storm. As there will be cold 850 mb temperatures, near 0c, over West Virginia, with low temperatures in the lower 30s, some snow is possible in that region on Monday night, but this is mainly due to dynamics in that region, and places such as the Adirondacks will be seeing rain, despite being further north.


Until Wednesday night, the storm will remain stalled in the area, with occasional showers and highs in the upper 50s to lower 60s. On Thursday, the storm will start to exit, with near/above average temperatures returning for Friday and Saturday, with highs in the mid 60s to lower 70s on Friday and upper 60s to mid 70s on Saturday.
