Mar 6, 2012: 60+ Degrees Tomorrow, Thursday

Forecast Overview:


Wednesday / Thursday: With a high pressure moving into the region, much warmer temperatures will be observed, with highs reaching the upper 50s to lower 60s on Wednesday and the lower to mid 60s, locally upper 60s, on Thursday. Colder temperatures are expected in Long Island with highs in the lower to upper 50s on Wednesday and mid 50s to lower 60s on Thursday. Both days will feature mostly to partly sunny skies with SW/SSW winds.

Friday - Monday: After a cold front will move through on Thursday night with scattered showers, Friday will bring partly sunny skies with highs in the upper 40s to lower 50s across most of the area. As a cold air mass will briefly move through, temperatures overnight will drop into the mid 20s to lower 30s for most places. A relatively chilly and dry weekend is expected along with mostly sunny skies; highs will reach the mid to upper 40s on Saturday and the upper 40s to mid 50s on Sunday.

Next Week: There is an overall model agreement developing for the cutoff low to develop around Texas, not the southeastern US as the GFS is showing. For tonight's forecast, I am siding with the slower models developing the cutoff low in Texas; this would result in temperatures staying in the 50s throughout the first half of next week, along with increased cloud cover and the risk of showers towards Tuesday/Wednesday.
