A combination of a cold front and Tropical Storm Lee's remnants is producing widespread heavy rain across the region, and the NYC area saw heavy rain once again, with rainfall amounts so far between 2 to 4 inches in northern NJ and SE NY, 1 to 2.5 inches in NYC, and 0.6 to 1 inch in Long Island/S CT. The rain will shift north tonight, moving back into Pennsylvania and New York tomorrow, but cloudy skies, chilly temperatures and light rain will continue through Thursday. By Friday, the impact of Lee's remnants in the region will decrease, and sunshine and dry conditions will return and will stay through next week.
Tomorrow's Outlook:
The cold front, which moved to the east of the area last night, brought a cooler air mass into the area. As Lee's remnants move into the Ohio Valley tomorrow, however, the front will stall and begin to lift back north as a warm front towards NYC. Temperatures tomorrow will stay chilly, however, due to the cloud cover and occasional showers, reaching the upper 60s to lower 70s inland, lower to mid 70s in the immediate NYC area, and the upper 60s in most of Long Island and S CT. An east wind is expected.
Thursday - Sunday: Drier And Warmer
Thursday will be the last of the cloudy and rainy days. As the warm front moves north of NYC, temperatures will warm up as well, reaching the mid 70s inland, mid to upper 70s in the immediate NYC area, and lower to mid 70s in Long Island/S CT. By Friday, mostly to partly cloudy skies are expected with warmer temperatures, reaching the upper 70s to lower 80s from NYC and further west. More sunshine will return on Saturday, and these temperatures and the partly cloudy cloud cover will continue through at least early-mid next week. Afterwards, the models show the potential for a significant cool down by the end of next week, and this potential will be watched. Stay tuned for more information on next week with tomorrow's update.
